Some players in the Real Madrid squad are reportedly unhappy with manager Xabi Alonso and believes he has an inflated view of himself.
According to The Athletic, they feel Alonso “thinks he’s Pep Guardiola”.
The mega-money stars have been left frustrated by the Spaniard’s strict training regime.
Just last Sunday, Vinicius Junior openly clashed with Alonso,m after he was substituted in the 72nd minute of their 2-1 win over Barcelona.
The substitution has seen Alonso’s already tense relationship with Vinicius escalate to an ‘unsustainable conflict’.
However, the Brazilian is not the only Madrid player questioning his manager’s methods.
The Los Blancos squad which had become accustomed to Carlo Ancelotti’s laid back style of management, have struggled to adjust to Alonso’s more authoritarian regime.
Alonso called a meeting early in his tenure in which he laid down a new set of rules. He stressed the importance of punctuality, intensity and dedication in training while warning that no one was guaranteed a starting place.
However such changes, coupled with Alonso’s playing style, are thought to have left some Madrid stars frustrated.
