Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently summon a meeting of all former Nigerian leaders to deliberate on the recent threat issued by U.S. President Donald Trump against Nigeria.
In a statement released via his official Facebook page on Sunday, Lamido described Trump’s remarks as “very ominous,” warning that the consequences could be dire if not addressed swiftly and strategically.
“The threat of war on Nigeria from President Trump of the United States of America, under whatever guise, is very ominous. The consequences of such action cannot be imagined,” he cautioned.
The former Minister of Foreign Affairs urged Nigerians to remain united in defending the nation’s sovereignty irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political differences.

“It is time for all Nigerians of all creeds to rally around our sovereignty. President Tinubu must put aside pride and invite all former leaders for a closed-door meeting to discuss and find a way around this dangerous development,” Lamido said.
He further appealed to former Presidents and Heads of State to overcome political and personal divides and collaborate with the Tinubu administration to prevent any escalation of tensions with the U.S.
“Our former Presidents and Heads of State are eminently positioned to engage the USA and President Trump in quiet, behind-the-scenes diplomacy to resolve whatever issues exist,” he added.
Lamido concluded by emphasizing the urgency of collective action, stressing that Nigeria cannot afford to waste time in protecting its stability and sovereignty.
