Recent reports have indicated that the father of Barca forward, Lamine Yamal is currently under investigation following the stabbing incident of 2024.
New developments have emerged regarding the stabbing of Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal, nearly a year after the incident occurred in Mataró, a town near Barcelona.
Initially reported as the victim in the July 2024 altercation, Nasraoui is now under official investigation, according to a report from Crónica Global (via A Bola) published on Friday, July 11, 2025. The probe is being led by Court of Instruction No. 3 in Mataró, which is now treating Nasraoui not only as a victim but also as a possible aggressor in the events that unfolded.
The confrontation took place around 8 p.m. in a parking lot, where Nasraoui, along with some friends, reportedly arranged a meeting with a group of young people to settle a dispute that began earlier that day. The disagreement stemmed from an incident involving Nasraoui’s son and nephew, who had splashed one of the individuals involved.
What started as an attempt to resolve tensions turned violent. Police had to intervene as Nasraoui became agitated, allegedly stating, “This cannot happen” and “We will resolve this later.”
According to the defense of the accused attacker, the scene devolved into a retaliatory act, with Nasraoui allegedly punching a young man and breaking his nose. Moments later, the same young man reportedly retaliated by stabbing Nasraoui.
The latest report from Crónica Global notes that one of Nasraoui’s companions admitted the footballer’s father physically assaulted the young man prior to being stabbed. As a result of this testimony and other findings, Nasraoui has been summoned to appear in court as a suspect on July 21.
