Lagos State University, LASU, and the Federal University of Science and Technology, FUSTECH, Epe, have dismissed as false claims circulating online that the LASU Epe campus has been converted into the newly established federal institution.
The clarification was contained in a joint statement issued on Wednesday via LASU’s official X handle, signed by the Registrars of both institutions, Mr Emmanuel A. Fanu of Lagos State University and Mr Kabiru Olawale Okugbesan of Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe.
The universities said the misleading notice currently in circulation does not reflect the true status of the LASU Epe campus, stressing that it remains an integral and fully operational part of LASU.
According to the statement, the campus continues to host key academic units, including the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, School of Agriculture, as well as pre-degree and sandwich programmes, alongside other academic and research centres.
The institutions explained that FUSTECH, being a newly created university, is temporarily utilising some facilities within the LASU Epe campus to support its take-off, based on a collaborative arrangement between both parties.
They, however, emphasised that the partnership does not in any way alter the ownership or operational structure of the LASU campus, noting that both institutions maintain separate identities, governance systems, and academic programmes.
The statement added that the temporary sharing of infrastructure would remain in place until FUSTECH relocates to its permanent site.
Reaffirming their position, the institutions stated that the LASU Epe campus “has not been converted” into FUSTECH.
They urged members of the public, prospective students, parents and other stakeholders to ignore the false claims and rely only on verified information from official communication channels.
Both institutions reiterated their commitment to maintaining academic standards and providing accurate guidance to stakeholders at all times.
