Here is the latest update on the injury as well as the availability of William Saliba for Arsenal FS's upcoming fixtures.
According to the latest update from the French outlet L’Équipe, the centre-back, William Saliba is facing another three to four weeks on the sidelines after sustaining an ankle injury in the defeat to Liverpool. He already missed the current international break and is reportedly “unlikely” to feature for France in their October fixtures.
For Arsenal, the timing is problematic, with seven fixtures across the Premier League, Champions League, and Carabao Cup during that stretch. Among them are high-stakes clashes: an away trip to Athletic Bilbao in Europe September 16, 2025, a home showdown with Manchester City September 21, 2025, and a visit to Newcastle September 28, 2025.
Saliba managed fewer than five minutes on the pitch against Liverpool before being forced off. After the game, Arteta revealed in surprising fashion that the defender had actually picked up the injury during the warm-up but chose to play regardless.
“We lost Martin [Ødegaard], Kai [Havertz], then Bukayo [Saka]. In the warm-up, we also lost Saliba,” the Arsenal boss explained.
Alongside Saliba, the Gunners are also coping with injuries to Christian Nørgaard and Ben White, though both could be back for the next clash with Nottingham Forest. Ødegaard is another possible returnee.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus remains a long-term absentee, having been sidelined with a knee problem since January.
Saliba, who joined Arsenal in 2019 for £27 million before spending three loan spells back in France, has since become indispensable at the Emirates. He is also a mainstay for France, playing every minute of their Euro 2024 campaign.
