As the summer 2025 transfer window intensifies, Liverpool FC's main target for the striker role has been revealed.
Liverpool have made a club-to-club approach to Newcastle United to explore a potential record-breaking deal for Swedish striker Alexander Isak, making him the Premier League champions' main target for the striker's position ahead of a new season.
The Reds are said to be keen on bringing in a marquee forward this summer, and Isak has emerged as their top target.
Discussions are still in the early stages, but Liverpool’s intent is clear: they are prepared to break their transfer record if Newcastle are open to negotiations.
However, the Magpies have so far shown no willingness to sell, having previously insisted that Isak is central to their long-term project.
The club is also reportedly ready to offer the 24-year-old a new contract to fend off interest.
Isak, who scored 21 goals across all competitions last season, has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic forwards.
His technical ability, movement, and finishing make him a perfect fit for Liverpool’s attacking philosophy under new head coach Arne Slot.
Should Newcastle remain firm on keeping their star striker, Liverpool could shift their focus to Hugo Ekitike, who is also available this summer.
The former PSG forward presents a younger, less expensive alternative, but Liverpool’s priority remains Isak. The final decision now rests with Newcastle. Liverpool have made their move and the ball is in the Magpies’ court.
