France President Emmanuel Macron has raised alarm over the growing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, warning that it could seriously harm global peace and security.
He wrote in a post on his X handle: “The outbreak of war between the United States, Israel, and Iran carries grave consequences for international peace and security.”
Macron explained that France is taking steps to protect the country and its citizens.
According to him: “At this decisive moment, every measure is being taken to ensure the security of our national territory, our citizens, and our interests in the Middle East.
“France also stands ready to deploy the necessary resources to protect its closest partners, should they request it.”
The French President described the rising tension as dangerous and called for an immediate halt.
“The ongoing escalation is dangerous for all. It must stop,” Macron stated.
He urged Iran’s leadership to return to negotiations, saying the Iranian government must understand that it has no choice but to engage in genuine talks to end its nuclear and missile programmes, as well as activities that destabilise the Middle East.
He stressed that this is necessary for the safety of the entire region.
Macron also spoke about the people of Iran, saying they should have the freedom to determine their future.
He criticised the actions of Iran’s Islamic leadership, stating that its violent record has stripped it of legitimacy and that power should return to the people as soon as possible.
Macron said France has requested an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council.
He added that he remains in close contact with European partners and leaders in the Middle East as the situation continues to unfold.
