Man arraigned for k!lling his mother in Ebonyi

A 30-year-old man, Oforbuike Damian, has been arraigned before a Magistrates court in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State for st@bbing his aged mother to d3ath. The defendant was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on m8rder. The Police Prosecutor, David Njoku, and Senior State Council told the court that the suspect committed the offences on March 19, 2026, at Ohatekwe village, Ukawu community in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Njoku said the defendant caused the d3ath of his mother, Mrs Onyema Damian, by st@bbing her with a knife in the back. He noted that the offence was punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 33 Vol. 1, Laws of Ebonyi State, 2009. The defendant, who had no legal representation, told the court that he k!lled his mother for refusing to bathe him. I dont know what really happened, but I can remember that I k!lled her over her refusal to bathe me, he told the court. Chief Magistrate, Chinedu Agama, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre, as the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter. Agama ordered that the case file and exhibits be forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecution for advice and further adjudication. He, therefore, adjourned the matter to April 9, 2026.  The post Man arraigned for k!lling his mother in Ebonyi appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
