The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is heading to the appellate court to fight a Federal High Court ruling that currently prevents the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing its state congresses.
Senator David Mark, leading the party’s factional National Working Committee, dismissed concerns over the legal hurdle, asserting that the party’s path to the 2027 general elections remains clear.
The court’s decision specifically targets the validity of congresses organized by Mark’s leadership team, casting a shadow over the party’s internal structure and its readiness for the upcoming polls. However, following a late-night strategy session with his legal advisors in Abuja this Wednesday, the former Senate President projected total confidence.
Addressing party members, Mark declared, “You do not have anything to be afraid of regarding all the litigations before the party.” He emphasized that the legal team has already initiated the appeal and sought a stay of execution to neutralize the ruling’s immediate impact.

“I want to assure you that we shall triumph in all the cases, and we shall be on the ballot for every election,” Mark stated, reinforcing his commitment to the party’s 2027 roadmap.
As the internal power struggle continues to unfold, the ADC leadership maintains that they are legally equipped for the fight. “We are more than prepared and ready for these cases, and we shall do everything within the ambit of the law to surmount every situation,” Mark noted during the briefing.
Despite the complexities of the litigation, the Senator made it clear that he would remain hands-on in steering the party through the storm. “In this legal battle, though I am not a lawyer, I will lead from the front, and we shall surely triumph,” he concluded.
Earlier in the evening, the party’s legal counsel had provided a comprehensive breakdown of the judgment’s implications, outlining a tactical approach to ensure the faction maintains its standing ahead of the next election cycle.
