Nollywood actress and producer Mercy Johnson-Okojie has publicly voiced her indignation upon learning that her recently released film, “The Firstborn,” is being screened by Ghanaian television station Blazing TV without her permission.
The popular actress expressed her annoyance on social media by posting screenshots and raising concerns about the legitimacy of the Ghanaian TV station’s broadcast.
“Ghana. Blazing TV. How is this even ok? Blazing TV in Ghana is showing my movie, THE FIRSTBORN, on their TV without my consent. How does this even make sense? How?” she wrote, adding that she was “speechless at the audacity of it all.”

Mercy Johnson became aware of the situation after a fan pointed out that the Ghanaian TV station, which is linked with MultiTV, was showing footage of the movie.
The freshly released film, according to reports, was probably taken from her YouTube channel and then shown without the required permission or licensing.
Mercy Johnson’s protest draws attention to a persistent problem of copyright violations that Nigerian filmmakers in Ghana encounter. She joins an increasing number of Nollywood celebrities who have previously criticized Ghanaian TV stations for using their content without permission, including Bimbo Ademoye and Omoni Oboli.
