
Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State,weekend inaugurated a reconciliation committee to address the lingering issues between the United Methodist Church of Nigeria and the Global Methodist Church of Nigeria.
Speaking at the Inauguration which took place at the Executive Council Chamber of the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo , the governor charged members of the committee to carefully examine the key areas of concern between the two churches and work towards finding lasting solutions to the dispute.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and harmony in the state, noting that he is willing to commit his personal resources to ensure reconciliation and lasting peace between the two Christian bodies.
He also assured both churches that justice would be served fairly, urging all parties involved to cooperate fully with the committee in the interest of unity and stability.
Governor Kefas further warned individuals or groups issuing threats or attempting to disrupt the peace of the state to desist immediately or face the full weight of the law.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, its chairman, Iroh Aliyuda, expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in the members.
Aliyuda assured that the committee would carry out its assignment with diligence and fairness, pledging that members would put in their best efforts to resolve the issues between the two churches.
The committee is expected to engage stakeholders from both denominations as part of efforts to promote reconciliation and restore unity among members.
