Mohammed Babangida dismisses fake letter, confirms acceptance of BOA chairmanship

Amid circulating rumours suggesting he had declined a high-profile government appointment, Mohammed Babangida, son of former military president General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), has formally confirmed his acceptance to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).

The clarification comes in response to a letter making the rounds on social media, falsely claiming that Babangida had rejected the appointment recently approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a firm rebuttal issued through his media aide, Alhaji Mahmud Abdullahi, Babangida dismissed the letter as a fabrication designed to mislead the public.

“The letter in circulation is a concocted letter from disgruntled elements,” Abdullahi stated on his behalf.

Setting the record straight, Babangida confirmed his willingness and readiness to serve in the position.

“I have accepted the appointment. I am ready to serve as the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Agriculture,” he declared.

In his statement, Babangida expressed deep appreciation to the president for entrusting him with the responsibility.

“I express my gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for deeming me worthy for the position,” he said.

He further pledged to approach the role with dedication and a reform-driven mindset.

“I promise to put in my best to transform the organisation in the overall interest of the nation,” Babangida assured.

His acceptance puts to rest speculations and social media chatter attempting to cast doubt on his commitment to national service. Stakeholders in the agricultural and financial sectors are expected to closely watch the next steps at the Bank of Agriculture under his chairmanship.
