The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Monday hailed Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, declaring that he has “conquered” the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking at an event in Jos to officially welcome Muftwang into the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akpabio described the governor as *“the newest bride of the APC family in Nigeria.”
Referencing scripture, Akpabio said: “Even in the Bible it says, Caleb we can go up to the mountain and conquer it. I want you to know that this moment means you have conquered the Government House in Plateau State again in 2027.”*

He added that the defection signaled the consolidation of APC’s influence in the North-Central region. *“Congratulations in advance, your name shows nothing but conquest. It is important for us to know that today’s event is very significant. Significantly, today the North-Central region is complete,”* Akpabio said.
Addressing speculation about religious bias in governance, he remarked: *“People are spreading rumors as if this administration is targeting one religion. But I don’t think that we have had any government in the past 10 years.”*
The event marked Muftwang’s formal entry into the APC, with party leaders framing it as a strategic gain for the ruling party ahead of the next general elections.
