Tension on Friday gripped residents of Dutse Local Government Area in Jigawa State after the body of a man was found dead on Kandahar Hill.
A resident told DAILY POST that the body was discovered early Friday morning by boys playing around the hill in Dutse metropolitan.
He said the situation led to an alarm in the community after the decomposed body was allegedly discovered with some parts removed.
Police Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State command SP. Shiisu Lawan Adam,in a statement, confirmed the recovery of the dead body but no part of the body was removed.
He said the unnatural death was reported at Dutse Division by a good Samaritan on September 16, 2025, at about 1545hrs.
According to the report, “a decomposed body had been sighted at Kandahar Hill, opposite Dutse General Hospital, who was later identified as one Ado Barau, alias Jojo of 37yrs of Kasarau Fagoji, Dutse metropolis, who had been suffering from a mental disorder”
He said, the detectives from Dutse Division promptly responded to the scene. But due to the advanced state of decomposition and foul odor, the body was buried at the scene with the assistance of the welfare department from the local government.
The corpse was hurried in the presence of his relatives, the representative of the district head, the ward head of Fagoji, DSS operatives, NSCDC personnel, FRSC, and other local communities.
The Jigawa State Police Command urged the people of the state to stop spreading fake news that could cause public panic and to report any suspicious individuals or objects to the nearest security outfit for prompt action.
