Naira declines on last trading day of February, sheds N3.58 against dollar

The Nigerian currency, the naira, made it the 5th consecutive decline this week against the American dollar at the official window on Friday.

At the official window, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) foreign exchange data showed that the naira closed at N1,363.39/$1, compared to N1,359.81/$1 on Thursday.

This represents a loss of N3.58 for the local currency against the American dollar.

At the black market, the Nigerian currency gained N5 against the American dollar, trading at N1,370/$1, as against the previous rate of N1,375/$1.

The local currency gained N5 against the British Pound to trade at N1,875/£1 as against the previous day’s rate of N1,880/£1.

The naira closed flat against the Canadian dollar to trade at N1,000/CA$1, the same as the previous day’s rate of N1,000/CA$1.

The naira gained N10 against the euro, trading at ₦1,640/€1, as against the previous day’s ₦1,650/€1.
