The Nigerian currency, the naira, appreciated further against the American dollar at the official window on Christmas eve.
At the official window, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) foreign exchange data showed that the naira closed at N1,443.37/$1, compared to N1,449.98/$1it traded on Tuesday.

This represents a gain of N6.61 for the local currency against the American dollar.
At the black market, the naira lost N2 against the dollar, trading at N1,492/$1, as against the previous rate of N1,490/$1 of the previous day.
The local currency lost N5 against the British Pound to trade at N1,995/£1 as against the previous day’s rate of N1,990/£1.
The naira closed flat against the Canadian dollar to trade at N1,200/CA$1.
It also closed flat against the Euro to trade at ₦1,730/€1.
