The Nigerian currency, the naira, slumped against the American dollar at the official window on Thursday.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) foreign exchange data showed that the naira closed at N1,457.84/$1, as against the N1,455.49/$1 it traded on Wednesday.
This represents a loss of N2.35 for the local currency against the American greenback.
The naira lost N5 against the American greenback to trade at N1,505/$1, as against the previous day’s rate of N1,500/$1.

The local currency also lost N5 against the British Pound to trade at N2,015/£1 as against the previous day’s rate of N2,010£1.
The naira gained N50 against the Canadian dollar to trade at N1,200/CA$1, as against the previous day’s rate of N1,250/CA$1.
It lost N5 against the Euro to trade at ₦1,735/€1, as against the previous day’s rate of ₦1,730/€1.
