The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk, has described the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari as a national tragedy and a painful loss to the people of Daura Emirate, Katsina State, and the nation at large.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the Daura Palace on Monday, the royal father said the death of the former president was a great loss to Nigeria and the entire African continent.
The traditional ruler said the news of Buhari’s death came as a huge shock to them.
Faruk said, “We have lost a true son of Daura,a pillar of honesty, and one of the most selfless leaders Nigeria has ever produced.”
He praised Buhari’s legacy of public service, stating that his contributions to national development, security reforms, and anti-corruption efforts would never be forgotten.
“President Buhari stood for truth, justice, and accountability.
“He lived a modest life and placed national interest above personal gain.
“His passing is a reminder of the great sacrifices he made for this country,” the emir added.
While praying for the repose of his soul, Faruk called on Nigerians to continue upholding the values Buhari stood for — unity, discipline, and service.
“We extend our deepest condolences to his family, especially Hajiya Aisha Buhari and their children.”
Also, the Chaorman, Daura Local Government, Alhaji Bala Musa, described Buhari as a man of principle who lived a life of simplicity, devotion to Islam, and service to the nation.
“We in Daura feel a deep personal loss. He was our father, our mentor, and a proud son of the soil.
“His humility and honesty will continue to inspire generations,”he said
Musa urged the citizens of Daura and Nigerians at large to remain peaceful and united during this period of mourning.
