The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 75-year-old man for drug trafficking in Abia State, as part of a series of nationwide operations that also led to multiple seizures and arrests across several states.

According to a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the elderly suspect was apprehended at Ovum village in Obingwa Local Government Area with 4.7 kilograms of skunk on Wednesday, October 22.

Babafemi added that another 60-year-old suspect was also arrested in the same local government area, at Apanta village, with 225 grams of the same substance.

The NDLEA spokesman said the arrests form part of the agency’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking networks nationwide.

In Ondo State, NDLEA operatives reportedly raided a camp at Lot, Ikun Akoko, where 150 kilograms of skunk were recovered. Similarly, in Kaduna State, two suspects were arrested with 234.5 kilograms of skunk at Yan Aya, Saminaka in Lere Local Government Area on Friday, October 24.
