NGX: Equities market begins week on bullish note as investors gain N804bn

Investors in the Nigerian equities market gained N804 billion at the close of trading on Monday.

This followed the surge in the share prices of stocks such as FTG Insure, Okomu Oil, and Fidson, among others, on the trading floor.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 196,263.55 points from the 194,989.77 points recorded on the previous trading day.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalisation increased to N125.9 trillion from N125.1 trillion posted by the bourse on Friday.

The market breadth was negative, with 33 stocks advancing, 34 declining, and 72 remaining unchanged in 95,901 deals.

A total of 1,288,740,705 shares were traded, valued at N31.5 billion.

FTG Insure, Okomu Oil, and Fidson led the gainers’ chart, with 10%, 10% and 9.90% growth in share prices, respectively, to close at N0.66, N1,605.60, and N95.50 per share, up from N0.60, N1,459.70, and N86.90 per share.

TIP, Deap Cap, and Living Trust led other price decliners with a 10%, 9.97% and 9.92% dip each in price to close at N17.55, N6.86, and N5.90 per share, down from the previous N19.50, N7.62, and N6.55 per share

On the volume index, Japaul Gold led trading with 473 million shares in 5,041 deals, followed by Chams, which traded 51 million shares in 1,109 deals.

Jaiz Bank traded 48 million shares in 6, 399 deals.

On the value index, Aradel traded stocks valued at N4.1 billion in 2, 132 deals, followed by MTN Nigeria, which traded equities worth N2.4 billion in 6,981 deals.

Japaul Gold traded shares valued at N1.9 billion in 5,041.
