NGX: Investors gain N143bn in five hours

Investors in the Nigerian equities market gained N143 billion at the close of trading on Thursday.

This followed the surge in the share prices of stocks, such as Guinness Nigeria, Eunisell Interlinked Plc, and Regal Insurance, among others, on the trading floor

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 142,263.07 points from 142,036.23 points recorded the previous day.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalisation rose to N90.005 trillion from N89.8 trillion posted by the bourse on Wednesday.

The market breadth was negative with 30 stocks advancing, 20 stocks declining, and 97 stocks remaining unchanged in 22,779 deals.

Guinness Nigeria, Eunisell Interlinked Plc, and Regal Insurance led other gainers with 10%, 9.89% and 9.82% growth each in share price to close at N176.00, N30.55, and N1.79 from the previous N160.00, N27.80, and N1.63 per share.

Consolidated Hallmark Plc, The Initiate Place, and Sovereign Insurance Plc led other price decliners with a 7.95% 7.48%, and 6.21% dip in share price to close at N4.02, N12.00, and N2.87 per share, down from the previous N4.35, N12.00, and N3.06 per share.

On the volume index, Access Holding Plc led trading with 37 million shares in 1, 175 deals, followed by Zenith Bank Plc, which traded 24 million shares in 1,475 deals.

Fidelity Bank Plc traded 20 million shares in 493 deals.

On the value index, Zenith Bank traded stocks valued at N1.6 billion in 1, 475 deals, followed by Aradel Holding, which traded equities worth N1.1 billion in 863 deals.

Access Holding Plc traded shares valued at N1.0 billion in 1, 175 deals.
