NGX: Investors gain N147bn as equities market begins week on high

The equities market opened the week on a high note as investors gained N147bn at the end of trading on Monday.

This followed the surge in the share prices of stocks such as Conoil, Legend Internet, and Omatek, among others, on the trading floor.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 197,196.97 points from the 196,968.15 points recorded on the previous trading day.

After five hours of trading on the capital market, equity capitalisation rose to N126.5 trillion from N126.4 trillion posted by the bourse on Friday.

The market breadth was negative, with 26 stocks advancing, 43 declining, and 78 remaining unchanged in 86,488 deals.

A total of 762,526,298 shares were traded, valued at N31.2 billion.

Conoil, Legend Internet, and Omatek led the gainers’ chart, with 10% growth in share prices, respectively, to close at N185.90, N7.04, and N2.42 per share, up from N169.00, N6.40, and N2.20 per share.

Aluminium Extrusion, Scoa, and RT Briscoe led other price decliners with a 10%, 9.90% and 9.87% dip each in price to close at N13.95, N30.95, and N10.87 per share, down from the previous N15.50, N34.35, and N12.06 per share.

On the volume index, FTG Insure led trading with 127 million shares in 1,523 deals, followed by Access Holding Plc, which traded 48 million shares in 3,147 deals.

Zenith Bank traded 39 million shares in 3,668 deals.

On the value index, Aradel traded stocks valued at N5 billion in 2, 619 deals, followed by Zenith Bank, which traded equities worth N3.6 billion in 3,668 deals.

NGX Group traded shares valued at N2.4 billion in 3,543 deals.
