Daniel Atori, the media aide to the Bishop of Kontagora Diocese and Proprietor of the school, Most Rev. Bulus Yohanna, says he cannot categorically say the the schoolchildren have been rescued.

Speaking in an interview with Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST on Monday, Atori said they were yet to receive children and teachers.

According to him, officials of the Federal Government have, however, said that the children have been rescued, stressing that they took their word for it.

“I cannot categorically say they have all been rescued but we are expecting more to be released.

“We have not received these children and teachers, but the Federal Government’s officials say they have all been rescued, so we are taking their word for it.
“So the Federal Government have all the necessary information that they really want. And from day one, like we reeled out, we have 315 persons, which comprise of children and their teachers, and after which, a few days after, we reported that 50 of them escaped, and we were left with 265.

“Giving the figures that we made available, because as of the time we did our headcount and verification, we try to reach out to parents to come out so we can re-identify those still missing.

“So after then, I think two weeks ago, when we had 100 of them rescued and released to the parents again.

“So as at that time we had 165. Now we are still continuing in our verification, doing our headcount or expecting more to be released,” he said.
