Niger NDLEA embarks on 219 drug abuse sensitization in schools, communities, organizations in 2025

The Niger State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has disclosed that it carried out 219 drug abuse public sensitization programmes between January and December 2025, targeting school children, communities, and organizations.

Niger State NDLEA, Commander Shehu Nomau Gwadabawa, shared this during a news briefing, in Minna where he highlighted the command’s achievements, which include drug enforcement, public enlightenment, rehabilitation, and successful conviction of drug dealers.

Gwadabawa disclosed that the command counseled a total of 299 drug users, rehabilitated 16 clients and reintegrated them into society.

The commander also revealed that about 125 drug dealers (124 male, one female) we’re arrested, with some convicted and others awaiting trial.

Gwadabawa praised his officers’ efforts, describing them as dedicated and God-fearing.

He then thanked the Niger State government for its support and requested more logistics, especially patrol vehicles, to boost their operations.
