The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has commenced an investigation into Saturday’s explosion at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in Kaduna State.
The Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja.
One person was killed and several others sustained injuries in the explosion that occurred at DICON Ordnance Factory Disposal pit earlier on Saturday.

The spokesman noted that the explosion occurred during the destruction of expired ordnance materials, including Ammonium Nitrate, primer caps, propellants, and other hazardous substances.
He added that the injured persons are receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.
“The DHQ has ordered a thorough investigation to ascertain the immediate cause of the incident and to prevent a recurrence,” Gusau stated.
DICON is a Nigerian government-owned corporation responsible for manufacturing defense materiel for the country’s armed forces and security agencies.
