Toronto police have arrested a 38-year-old Nigerian caregiver, Oghenemaro Dave Ejerua, in connection with a series of alleged assaults at an East Toronto group home for vulnerable adults.
The suspect was taken into custody last week after police investigated multiple reports of residents being assaulted at the facility.
According to authorities, the incidents reportedly occurred between November 1 and November 30, 2025.
During this period, several residents of the group home were allegedly subjected to physical assault on multiple occasions.
Officers were first called to the scene on the morning of December 10, 2025, at the intersection of Sibley and Dentonia Park avenues in East Toronto following reports of the alleged abuse.
A subsequent investigation was launched, during which police also sought public assistance to identify and locate the individual involved.
In a statement released on Monday, January 12, Toronto police confirmed that Ejerua had been formally charged with seven counts of assault. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Police emphasised that the allegations against the accused have not yet been tested in court and investigations into the case are ongoing.
