3. The Nigerian Senate has cautioned Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to desist from forcefully resuming her legislative duties until the expiration of her suspension. The warning follows media reports quoting the Kogi Central lawmaker as saying she would return to the Senate on Tuesday, based on a judgment by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

As the 21-day ultimatum issued to the Federal Government draws to a close on July 23, the Nigerian Medical Association has warned it will ground medical services nationwide if the government fails to meet its demands. Its President, Prof. Bala Audu, who confirmed this in an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Sunday, noted that the association was prepared to take decisive action should the government fail to respond adequately to its demands.

8. The African Democratic Congress has slammed Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, over his order restricting the 2024 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, from coming into the state. Okpebholo had on Friday barred Obi from entering the state. Reacting, the ADC on Sunday condemned the restriction order, describing it as unacceptable and a threat to democracy.

9. No fewer than 1,000 athletes have arrived in Abuja for the 2025 African Karate Championship scheduled to be held between July 21 and July 28. Silas Agara, President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), told newsmen in Abuja on Sunday that 31 countries, alongside host Nigeria, would slug it out in four categories of the sport.

10. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the assassination attempt on its November 8 governorship candidate in Anambra, Chief Jude Ezenwafor, demanding the immediate arrest of the assailants and their sponsors. The party stated this in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Sunday in Abuja.
