The convicted billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, was on Monday re-arraigned before Justice Oyindamola Ogala of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over the alleged murder of two police officers. The case, which was transferred from Justice Adenike Coker of the Ikeja Division, involves Evans and his co-defendant, Joseph Ikenna Emeka.

2. Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday, swore in Benibo Anabraba as the new Secretary to the State Government, urging him to discharge his duties honourably and avoid abuse of power.

3. Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced that a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Wale Abbas, will lead the investigation into the alleged killings of three residents of Akinlalu town by operatives of the state’s Amotekun Corps. Abbas, who currently serves as Chairman of the Osun Amotekun Board, has been directed to ensure a thorough probe into the role of the Corps Commander, Adekunle Omoyele, in the incident.

4. A staff member of Image Merchants Promotion Limited, publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, Salis Manaja, has been reportedly kidnapped while travelling from Ebonyi to Kwara State for the company’s annual Young Communication Fellowship programme. Manaja was said to have embarked on the trip on Saturday before he was kidnapped along an unspecified route.

5. Instability within the Peoples Democratic Party heightened on Monday after a member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Sadiq Abdullahi, announced his resignation from the opposition party. Representing Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, Abdullahi cited the party’s deepening internal conflicts and “loss of direction” as the primary reasons for his departure.

6. The presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 election, Mr Peter Obi, on Monday condemned the ongoing demolition of private property by government agencies across Nigeria. He said state governments’ action was even more condemnable, based on the fact that most of them were carried out without prior notice.

7. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, and progressive civil society groups have been plunged into mourning following the untimely death of Abiodun Aremu, a steadfast champion of the working class. Aremu, who was widely regarded as a fearless labour leader and ideological teacher, was killed in a hit-and-run accident on October 12, 2025, in his neighbourhood in Ifo, Ogun State.

8. The price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, otherwise known as petrol, yesterday, increased by 6.8 percent to N955 per litre, from N890 per litre sold last week. It was gathered that stations of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, and stations owned by Independent Marketers in Lagos and Abuja showed that the petrol was dispersed between N900 and N955 per litre.

9. The federal government has reaffirmed its resolve to implement the “no work, no pay” policy as the nationwide strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, began on Monday. It also directed vice-chancellors of all federal universities to ensure full compliance with labour law.

10. Several members of the Enugu State cabinet have joined the All Progressives Congress ahead of the expected defection of Governor Peter Mbah to the ruling party. Those who switched allegiance include Lawrence Ezeh, Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology; Amaka Ngene, Chairman of the Science, Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board; and Felix Nnamani, Commissioner for Labour and Employment.
