Ex-Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has criticized the way Nigerians show patriotism over fellow Africans’ criticism but remain silent when Americans do the same.
Sani spoke a statement posted on his verified X handle on Thursday.
He wrote, “I observed that when fellow Africans mock or criticise Nigerians, the spirit of patriotism is triggered and you will see all Nigerians United and fighting back.
“When an American criticise or mock Nigerians, you will only see some few Nigerians fighting back while others will even be endorsing whatever the American says.
“A behavioural component of our green card sycophancy, subservience and mentality.”
Responding, an X user, @Collinzosky said, “It is not because of green card. The truth is that we are far behind where we are supposed to be in terms of development.
“You cannot argue with an American when you don’t even have the basic things needed to function as a human being in your country.”
