Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday said there was no formal agreement between the people of Rivers State and President Bola Tinubu.
Wike spoke during his thank-you visit to Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State.
He said they never sat down with the President to negotiate any deal before supporting him during the 2023 election, stressing that the only message from Tinubu was a call for support, with an assurance that it would not be regretted.
“We never signed an agreement with the President, we never sat down with Mr President, all Mr president told us was support us you will not regret.
“For the support at the glory of God he saw what we did,” he said.
According to him, the President has already demonstrated goodwill toward Rivers State by appointing a Rivers man as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, describing the decision as a clear sign of confidence and appreciation.
He added that the President has done all that is required for the state, noting that the appropriate response now is gratitude and prayers for continued life and strength.
He concluded by saying that if all goes well and they are alive by 2027, Rivers people will express their “big thank you” to President Tinubu at the appropriate time.
