Consultant to Standing Committee, House of Representatives, Akinloye Oyeniyi, has said that no nation will move forward with glitches in budget dispensation.
Oyeniyi said this on Saturday on Arise Television, stating that glitches in budget dispensation is behind lack of funding for ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs, of the Federal Government.
DAILY POST reports that the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, had explained that his ministry received only about N36 million from the N218 billion capital allocation approved for 2025, leaving most planned infrastructure and programme activities unimplemented.
Reacting, Oyeniyi said, “I think where the problem is actually coming from is the way the budget was divided. Normally you have the capet side that you have the recurrent.
“Recurrent are those ones that move the day to day activities of the MDAs. But the capital aspect is the real work that maybe construction and some other physical works.
“When this government came in 2023, the budget was moving fine, but in 2024, we’ve been experiencing glitches in budget dispensation, where there’s more release of recurrent budget, but the capital part of the budget hasn’t been adequately addressed. It’s carried over into 2024/2025. No nation will move forward with budget glitches.”
