Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez has firmly disclosed the nation’s stance following US President Donald Trump’s recent threats after Spain refused to allow access to its bases for a potential attack on Iran.

Trump declared on Tuesday that the US would sever all relations with Spain, a NATO ally, due to its decision to deny use of two military bases located in southern Spain for operations against Iran.

Trump’s statement was made during a joint press conference with German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz.

However, in a subsequent address broadcast nationwide, Sanchez clearly articulated the Spanish government’s position, stating, “Our stance can be summed up in four words: ‘No to the war.'”

He added, “We are not going to be complicit in something bad for the world nor contrary to our values and interests simply to avoid reprisals from someone.”
