Notorious bandit leader arrested in Benue-Taraba axis

Troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari, under the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), arrested a notorious bandit leader linked to multiple cases of kidnapping and armed robbery along the BenueTaraba corridor. The suspect, identified as Fidelis Gayama, was arrested on December 21, 2025, during a precision, intelligence-driven operation conducted at Vaase Community in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. He is described as a high-value target who had been on the security watchlist for an extended period. Preliminary investigations revealed that Gayama is closely associated with Aka Dogo, a wanted armed group leader, and is believed to be the ringleader of a criminal network responsible for terrorising travellers and communities along the KenteWukari Road and surrounding border areas between Benue and Taraba states. Further verification by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force at the Vaase Outpost confirmed that the suspect is among individuals declared wanted by the Beji Police Division in Ukum LGA. The suspect is currently in military custody and is expected to be handed over to the appropriate authorities for comprehensive investigation and prosecution in accordance with existing laws. Commending the troops for their professionalism, discipline, and operational precision, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, described the arrest as a significant blow to criminal networks operating in the area. He reaffirmed the Brigades commitment to sustained offensive operations aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property.Brigadier General Uwa also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing security efforts across the region.The post Notorious bandit leader arrested in Benue-Taraba axis appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
