Former World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic has broken his silence about his future going into next year.
The Serbian international was speaking at his presser after the defeat against the World number two Carlos Alcaraz in a three-set match during the semi-final of the US Open. Novak Djokovic revealed that he is willing to continue playing tennis at the highest level but his body is not giving him the vibes he needs going into games against the top players in the sport.
What did Novak Djokovic say about his future?
"I still want to play Grand Slams and a full Grand Slam season next year. Let's see whether that's going to happen or not. But Slams are Slams they are just different from any other tournament. They are the pillars of our sport, the most important tournaments we have."
He also spoke about the competition from Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
"I can do only as much as I can do, It will be very difficult for me in the future to overcome the hurdle of Sinner and Alcaraz in best-of-fives at Grand Slams. I think I have a better chance in best-of-three, but best-of-five, it's tough. I am not giving up on Grand Slams in that regard. I'm going to continue fighting and trying to get to the finals and fight for another trophy at least."
How many Grand Slams has Djokovic won?
The 38-year-old has 24 grand slam titles to his name and he is on the quest to win the 25th, which had eluded him for a while. Djokovic has reached the semi-final of all four grand slams this year which means he has some fuel in his tank to run again next year especially with the Australian Open being the first first slam of the year and his favourite.
