Katsina United technical adviser Azeez Mohammed has insisted that proper fan education is key to eradicating crowd trouble in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
Mohammed stated this in the aftermath of the crowd trouble that occurred during Katsina United’s matchday 25 clash against Wikki Tourists in Bauchi.
The incident resulted in the postponement of the game until the next day, when it ended in a 4-4 draw at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.
The young tactician believes that the league body also has a role to play in orienting supporters.
“The solution to ending all this crowd disturbance on matchdays is fan education,” Mohammed was quoted as saying by Owosports.
“The league body and club management need to educate supporters and make them understand that their teams can’t always win every game.
“Sometimes a team may be having a bad day, while the opponent is in good form, or they make a mistake that the opponent capitalises on and goes on to win.”
DAILY POST reports that Wikki Tourists received a fine of N7.5 million for multiple breaches in the match against Katsina United.
