Amid prolonged uncertainty surrounding the internal crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), two prominent political figures — Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso — have officially aligned with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and Kwankwaso, who flew the flag of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), sealed their move during a high-level visit to the residence of the NDC National Leader, Seriake Dickson.

The meeting, which forms part of ongoing political consultations, saw the duo engage with Dickson and other party stakeholders on the future direction of the party and broader opposition dynamics.

Obi and Kwankwaso arrived at the venue at approximately 5:14 p.m., proceeding into discussions that later transitioned into a closed-door session. The engagement concluded around 6:45 p.m.

Addressing supporters after the meeting, Kwankwaso urged his political base and allies to fully embrace the NDC and strengthen its structure nationwide.

Obi, in his remarks, reportedly cautioned party members against pursuing legal battles over internal disagreements, instead encouraging dialogue and internal mechanisms for conflict resolution.

Their defection is widely viewed as a significant development for the NDC, as both leaders bring considerable political influence and grassroots support from across different regions of the country.
