The Ogun State Government has announced plans to embark on comprehensive road maintenance works across the state, assuring that every local government will benefit from the programme.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Works, Engr. Babatunde Adesina, disclosed this during an inspection tour of the Leme–Abiola Way–Madojutimi roads in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Adesina said the initiative reflects the administration’s strong commitment to improving infrastructure, enhancing mobility, and addressing the poor state of some key roads in order to ease the burden on commuters.
He added that the Abiodun-led administration is prioritising both urban and rural road projects as a way of supporting local businesses, improving community connectivity, and boosting economic growth across the state.
His words: “We will ensure that all parts of the state’s roads are touched by the road maintenance gang as the present administration is determined to make road networks across Ogun State accessible and durable.
“The exercise is not just about patching roads; it is about making life easier for our people and supporting commerce. Better roads will translate into reduced travel time, safer journeys, and stronger economic activities for our communities.”
Some residents who spoke on the development welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the road maintenance project would greatly improve accessibility and contribute to local economic development once completed.
