The recent attack on Ojantele community in Apa Local Government Area, which claimed numerous lives and left many missing, has drawn strong condemnation from Peter Adejoh, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
DAILY POST reports that several persons were reportedly been killed in an attack by suspected armed herdsmen in Ojantele, a community in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.
Reacting to the attack in a statement he personally signed on Saturday, Adejoh, a gubernatorial aspirant, said the incident, which left many dead, missing, and properties destroyed, is “an affront to humanity and an assault on the peace and security of Benue State”.
He expressed sympathy for the victims’ families, stating: “Their grief is our collective grief, and they deserve the support of both government and society at large.
“Those entrusted with the protection of citizens must deploy all available resources to prevent further bloodshed, safeguard our vulnerable communities, and ensure the safety of hardworking farmers who feed our state and nation.”
He also urged the state government to engage stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the persistent security crisis.
“Repeated attacks on our communities are unacceptable and signal a failure of leadership that must be corrected without delay,” he said.
Adejoh called for swift justice and emphasized the need for unity: “The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be apprehended and brought to justice swiftly. Our state can no longer be held hostage by violence.
“Benue must rise united, vigilant, and determined to end this cycle of bloodshed.”
