Kunle Kakanfo, a technology analyst, has said the only 21 percent of women in Nigeria have access to Artificial Intelligence technology and tools.

He made this known at an event in Abuja on Tuesday.

Kakanfo joined stakeholders in the country to advocate for more involvement of women in AI for development.

He said that there is a need to bridge the critical gap in AI access in Nigeria.

On his part, Dr. Bunmi Ajala, National Director, National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, NCAIR Nigeria, said women are a critical component of the advancement and transformation of the technology in the country.

AI for Women is a specially designed program initiative to actually let it footstep for our women into this transformative technology.

“The first part is for us to understand, to let them understand this transformative capacity of this technology for them to pick up basic skills that are required to actually operate in this economy. Also, it’s for us to take advantage of the pivotal role women take in our society.

“There’s hardly anything we’re doing that AI is not involved in,” he said
