12 hours ago 2

Artificial intelligence company OpenAI has announced plans to roll out new restrictions for users of its flagship chatbot, ChatGPT, who are below the age of 18.

The company said the measure is part of broader efforts to strengthen safety, ensure compliance with regulations, and create an age-appropriate experience for younger users.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced on Wednesday a host of new user regulations, including a vow to dramatically change how ChatGPT interacts with users under the age of 18.

The post states, “We put safety before teens’ freedom and privacy.” “We think minors need a lot of protection, and this is a new and powerful technology.”

While full details are yet to be disclosed, the restrictions are expected to cover sensitive content categories, usage limitations, and stricter parental or guardian oversight.

OpenAI emphasized that the changes will not affect the general availability of ChatGPT but will place safeguards around how under-18 users access and interact with the platform.
