The Osun State Police Command has announced the arrest of ten suspected members of a multifaceted criminal gang and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, vehicles, and motorcycles during a recent operation.

Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, disclosed this at a press briefing held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the State Police Headquarters, Ring Road, Osogbo.

Gotan explained that the briefing aimed to update the public on the command’s ongoing efforts to combat cultism and violent crimes across the state. He recalled that on October 24, the command had earlier announced the arrest of twelve suspected cultists, reaffirming its commitment to tackling all forms of violent criminality.

“At about 12:45 am on 25th October 2025, we received credible information that some suspected criminals were shooting sporadically and causing panic at Minneapolis Lounge, located at Moro in Ife North Local Government Area near Foreign Link Campus,” Gotan said.

He explained that the lounge had become a criminal hideout where gang members allegedly planned attacks. Police operatives from the Rapid Response Unit, he said, swiftly moved to the scene after receiving the alert.

“On sighting the police team, the suspects opened fire, but our gallant officers responded decisively and successfully repelled the attack without any casualty,” he stated.

According to the commissioner, “the operation led to the arrest of ten suspects and the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition, vehicles, and motorcycles. The supervisor and owner of the lounge are currently on the run.

“Those arrested include Adebayo Olalekan, 27, Hammed Abdullah, 47, Olajide Opeyemi, 34, Olushola Samson, 24, Salako Opeyemi, 20, Majekodunmi Shefiu, 32, Ganiyu Yusuf, 24, Ridwan Temitope, 25, Taofeek Yusuf, 25, and Babafemi Adelowo, 28.

“Items recovered from the suspects include two English pump-action guns, two locally made pistols, one single-barrel gun, fifteen live cartridges, several empty shells, three Lexus vehicles, two Toyota Camry cars, and ten motorcycles,” he stated.

Gotan further announced the arrest of one Lekan Jamiu, a 22-year-old alleged armed thug, during a routine patrol by the Anti-Thuggery Unit within Osogbo metropolis on the same day.

“A search conducted on him led to the recovery of one cut-to-size locally made pistol, four live cartridges, twelve 9mm live ammunition, quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, and assorted charms,” Gotan said.

The Commissioner of Police confirmed that all suspects are in custody and assisting police investigations, adding that they would be charged to court upon completion of the investigations.
