There was panic on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, as security aides of the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), staged a protest at the Government House over their unpaid allowances.
During the protest which was captured on video, the security details made up of police officers and soldiers are seen demanding for their allowances as the tenure of the Sole Administrator draws to an end following the end of the emergency rule imposed on the state by President Bola Tinubu.
The angry security aides are heard demanding for their entitlements with some of them accusing Ibas of shortchanging them by withholding their allowances despite their dedication to their duties.

Some are heard saying the former military officer was planning to ‘sneak away’ without paying them what is due to them, vowing that they would not accept the situation.
As the tension grew, some officials of the state are seen frantically appealing to the aggrieved security aides, urging them to maintain decorum as their complaints would be looked into.
