Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has described the current situation within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a difficult moment for both the party and Nigeria’s democracy following the recent Appeal Court judgment on the party’s leadership crisis.

Makinde made the remarks during the Turaki-led PDP BoT meeting held on Tuesday.

While reacting to the court’s ruling delivered on Monday he stated that the political climate in the country is troubling but expressed optimism that the situation would eventually improve.

“It’s a challenging period for us, for democracy in Nigeria. I’ve been talking to people of knowledge, people who have been involved in the political evolution of this country, and none of them are seeing A political landscape as opposed to what we’re witnessing today. I can only say On behalf of well, we’re only two remaining,

“But we’re not bothered. I can say, personally and on behalf of my chairman, that when the story of this period is told and when the story of democracy in Nigeria is told they will find us on the side of the people. So please, I can only say that this period will also go away. It will pass away.

“So whatever role we want to play as individuals and collectively as a party, we must be conscious of what history is going to record against or for us for this period.

“And I’ll leave you with this, I don’t know where it is in the Quran, but in the Bible, I know where it is. And what I want to say is that weeping may endure for the night, but in the morning, joy cometh. Thank you very much,” he concluded.

The governor stressed that despite the ongoing crisis within the opposition party, leaders must remain mindful of how their actions during this period will be judged by history.

Makinde also expressed hope that the current political tensions would eventually pass, urging party members to stay focused on their role in strengthening democracy in Nigeria.

DAILY POST reported earlier that the Board of Trustees, BoT, convened an emergency meeting on Tuesday at the Bauchi State Governor’s lodge.

The meeting was chaired by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara and attended by key party figures, including Tanimu Turaki, Umar Damagum, ex-PDP Deputy National Chairman Bode George, former Information Minister Jerry Gana, former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, and several other prominent members.
