A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bode George has said there would be punishment for members of the party who are perceived to have been involved in anti-party activities.
The PDP is moving towards reconciliation after the leadership of the Kabiru Turaki-led faction decided to adhere to the Ibadan Appeal Court advice to seek reconciliation.
The Turaki-led PDP leadership has held several meetings since after the Appeal Court judgement on Monday and part of the issues raised were the possibility of meeting the faction being backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
According to some observers, the party is also seriously considering a recent plea made by former Senate President, Bukola Saraki who said it was time the party ended its frequent visits to the Court, bearing in mind that they have a limited timeline with regards to the INEC guidelines, if there are any chances, or hopes of presenting candidates for the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Arise News’ News Day on Thursday, Chief Bode George was asked whether there will be punishment for those who have obviously gone against the rules of the party, and he said, “There will be. You know, you are either straight or you are awkward.
“If you are straight and you have the Almighty God, the fear of the Almighty God, ahead of you, you fear nothing. And I’m still not saying people don’t make mistakes.
“Life is a gale of happiness, a gale of sadness, a gale of hard times and good times.
But if you think that is only the good times of life, you are going to be, you are mistaken, and if the Almighty God loves you as a person, he will take you to his own spiritual desert. And what would you find in that spiritual desert? You’ll find all kinds of tribulations, all kinds of trials, all kinds of unbelievable things, testing your faith. And if you are able to sustain yourself there, you will come out stronger. Look at me. I have seen the highest.”
