Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola is the latest person to react to the sacking of Liam Rosenior by Chelsea Football Club.

Guardiola was speaking during his post-match interview after the victory against Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday, April 23, 2026. According to him, he felt bad for the Englishman because there is still a good manager in Rosenior.

What did Guardiola say about Liam Rosenior?

"I am so sorry. I'm pretty sure he's a manager for that level. Always when this happens, always I think about how lucky, again, I am being in the club where I am”.

He added that situations like this make him reflect on his own stability at Manchester City, highlighting the importance of trust and structure within a club. Guardiola pointed out that he feels “lucky” to work in an environment where there is consistent backing from leadership and a clear long-term vision.

At the same time, he avoided criticizing Chelsea directly, stating that the decision to sack Rosenior was not my concern. Rosenior’s exit came after a poor run of results, including multiple consecutive defeats without scoring, which ultimately forced Chelsea’s hierarchy into action.

However, Guardiola will not focus on Rosenior but on his task to see his Manchester City team win the Premier League for the fifth time in six seasons.
