The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has spoken out against a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, stating that he does not have the necessary qualities to lead and solve Nigeria’s problems.
While speaking on leadership and political developments, Wike emphasized that effective leadership demands courage, firmness, and commitment.
“Leadership isn’t an easy journey; it needs strength, bravery, dedication, and the ability to stick with your decisions. What you’ve seen, like some governors leaving their positions, shows that they didn’t have the qualities of a good leader,” he said.
He compared the situation to Obi’s time during conflicts inside the Labour Party, saying that the former presidential candidate didn’t show strong leadership when it was most needed.
“I compared them to the former Labour Party presidential candidate who wanted to be president and they gave him a platform.
“When the crisis hit the Labour Party, it was a moment when he needed to step up and lead, but he avoided taking responsibility because he couldn’t find solutions,” Wike said.
The minister also pointed out some governors didn’t stay strong during political problems.
“When our governors were looking for a platform, whenever a crisis came and they were supposed to show leadership and be brave and forward-thinking, they ran away. This is to inform you who can stand during a crisis,” he added.
Wike urged elected officials to stay responsible to the voters, saying that how they perform will affect their political careers.
“Let nobody think that just because people have talked about the president and his achievements, it means none of you will be covered.
“During this period, which is a time of operational show, your report card will be taken back by us if you take our mandate,” he stated.
