Ahead of the 2027 general election, controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has said that no one can hold Nigerians to ransom.
Gumi warned politicians to listen to the people’s cry and do the right thing.
The remarks are Gumi’s reaction to Mr Peter Obi’s declaration for the African Democratic Congress, ADC, on Wednesday.
DAILY POST reported that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in 2023, officially defected to the ADC on Wednesday.
Obi announced his defection in Enugu capital on Wednesday, saying his defection ahead of the 2027 election is aimed at transforming and rescuing Nigeria.
While sharing a post of news report about Obi’s defection to the ADC on his Facebook page, Gumi suggested that Nigerian democracy is maturing.
He said: “Nigerian democracy is maturing.
“Politicians should listen to the people’s cry and do the right thing. Time is fast approaching no one can hold Nigerians to ransom.”
