The new leadership has emerged for the Action Alliance, AA, in Ebonyi State, with Ozuma Peter Ozuma elected as state chairman following a peaceful and well-coordinated congress held in Abakaliki, the state capital.

The exercise, which produced 23 members of the State Executive Committee, was widely adjudged credible and orderly by stakeholders and observers.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Alexander Friday Eze, described the congress as transparent, peaceful, and devoid of irregularities.

“The process was successful, free, fair, and devoid of skirmishes or disorderliness,” Eze stated.

He urged the newly elected leadership to align governance priorities with the party’s ideological thrust of social justice and mass-oriented development.

“The leadership must remain committed to the party’s motto, ‘Let the masses live,’ by pursuing policies that will liberate Nigerians from economic hardship and systemic inequality,” he said.

Eze further appealed to aggrieved aspirants and dissenting members to close ranks in the interest of party cohesion and long-term electoral success.

“Internal democracy must be strengthened through unity. Those who did not emerge victorious should remain committed, as future opportunities abound,” he added.

In his acceptance remarks, Chief Ozuma expressed gratitude to party faithful for entrusting him with the leadership mandate, describing his emergence as a call to higher service.

“I feel honoured by the confidence reposed in me by the AA family. This is a responsibility I do not take lightly,” he said.

Projecting ahead to the 2027 general elections, Ozuma articulated an ambitious electoral roadmap, declaring that the party is strategically positioned to secure up to 85 percent of the votes across key elective offices.

“AA is fully mobilised and strategically prepared. We are targeting decisive victories in the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and we intend to make a significant impact in the governorship election,” he stated.

He emphasized that the party’s long-term objective is to redefine governance through people-centric policies anchored on equity and grassroots inclusion.

On preparations for the forthcoming local government elections, the chairman disclosed that the party is intensifying consultations and organisational structuring to ensure broad participation.

“While we may not field candidates in every ward, we are confident of contesting in no fewer than 75 percent of available positions,” he said.

Ozuma reiterated the party’s belief in mass mobilisation as a catalyst for political transformation.

“Our strength lies in the people. We believe the electorate is ready for a credible alternative that prioritises their welfare,” he added.

Offering a measured assessment of the current political landscape, Ozuma expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the ruling party at the national level, while acknowledging efforts at the state level under Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

“At the national level, there is widespread disappointment. However, at the state level, the governor is making observable efforts. That said, AA represents a more viable platform for transformative, people-oriented governance,” he noted.

Ozuma also paid tribute to the national leadership of the party, particularly Rufai Adekunle Omaje, for providing strategic direction and institutional stability.

“His leadership has been instrumental in repositioning the party as a credible force in Nigeria’s political space,” he said.

The congress, held at the People’s Club Resort along Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway, was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alongside security agencies and party representatives.

Mr Louis Onuora, a party member who also observed the process, corroborated claims of a peaceful and well-supervised exercise.

DAILY POST gathered that the newly constituted executive committee reflects representation across the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State, with Comrade John Ugbo elected as State Secretary.
