The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested five suspects for alleged criminal conspiracy, abetment, and possession of motorcycles intended to facilitate banditry in the state.
The arrests, described by the police as a “major breakthrough” in the fight against violent crime, were made on September 19, 2025, by a joint patrol team of officers and vigilantes led by the Divisional Police Officer of Kamba Division, Bello Lawal.
According to a statement on Monday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, the suspects, Saifullahi Suleiman, 37, Halidu Adamu, 26, Ibrahim Abubakar, 37, and Sani Kabiru, 22, all residents of Kamba town in Dandi Local Government Area, were found in possession of three Honda motorcycles, popularly referred to as Boko Haram motorcycles.
“The motorcycles, worth N5.4 million, were reportedly purchased from Benin Republic and intended for delivery to the Lakurawa terrorist group through a yet-to-be-identified accomplice from Kangiwa town, Arewa LGA,” Abubakar said.
He added that during investigations, Mubarak Ladan, 28, of Kamba town allegedly attempted to bribe the DPO with N600,000 to secure the suspects’ release, but he was immediately apprehended and the money recovered as evidence.
Commissioner of Police Bello Sani has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi to intensify efforts to track down other suspects linked to the case.
He commended the Kamba DPO and vigilante members for their professionalism and courage, urging other divisional heads across the state to replicate such dedication.
Sani reiterated the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks along Kebbi’s borders to ensure peace and security for residents, while appealing to the public to provide credible information to help create a crime-free environment.
