Police arrest man for s3xually abusing 13-year-old girl in Ondo community

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested one Osita James, 32, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in Ile-Oluji/Oke Igbo Local Government Area of the state.   The spokesperson for the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, February 9, 2026 said the suspect had s3xually abused the minor on several occasions.  Jimoh said police operatives promptly arrested the suspect and rescued the victim on February 5 following a report made by one Uchenna   According to the PPRO, James confessed to the commission of the crime and will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.  The Ondo State Police Command under the purposeful leadership of CP Adebowale Lawal Psc(+), mnips wishes to inform the general public of the arrest of a suspect in connection with an alleged case of defilement in Ile-Oluji, the statement read. "On 5th February, 2026, a report was made at the police station by one Uchena (male) that earlier the same day, at about 1600hrs, a 13-year-old female (name withheld) was allegedly s3xually abused at Asio, Ile-Oluji, by one Osita James (male), aged 32 years. "Upon receipt of the report, the victim was promptly rescued and taken for medical examination. The suspect was immediately apprehended and is currently in custody, where he reportedly made useful statements and confessed to the commission of the crime. "During preliminary investigation, the victim disclosed that the suspect had allegedly committed similar acts against her on several occasions prior to the incident. The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation. "This arrest aligns with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, whose reform-driven leadership continues to strengthen gender-sensitive policing, promote accountability, and enhance strategic responses to s3xual and gender-based violence nationwide. The Ondo State Police Command remains resolute in translating this vision into visible actions that build public trust and enhance community safety. While appreciating members of the public for their timely and courageous reporting, the Command urges all residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible and actionable information to the Police for swift intervention.
